1. Make sure your program is in track for licensure in your state 2. Look for programs with fellowship options 3. Prepare to have to take one year off work, if you plan to work while in school, to get your internship hours 4. Plan to work in community MH or another high stress placement, I mean, “fast paced, team atmosphere with growth opportunities”, while getting your hours for licensure

5 Once licensed, *run, don't walk* out of the CMH and start looking for a private practice gig.

Agree with everything except #4. You don't need to have a miserable life after graduation in order to get licensed and continue your work as a therapist.

Yeah, not guaranteed. I did mine in a school. I should have said “mentally prepare” instead of “plan” to better convey what I meant.
