> When it's your time nothing will stop it.
Oh, so when you have a heart attack you won't go to the hospital then? Or when you get covid and you _can't breathe_ you'll just lay down and die? No? Of course not. Once it affects you you'll get your ass to the hospital like everyone else does. You hypocrite.
And as far as i know god would not appreciate you not working to save your own life, because life is a gift from god and its not appropriate to let it go so easily
Also, you should not test god (e.g. rely on him to save you just cause)
Theres absolutely nothing in the Bible that even implies you shouldn’t get vaccinated
Basically. I want to ask her how Jesus is going to come help her if he’s stuck to a cross. But, my comment would get lost among all the “AMEN” replies she has.
To be fair, if you asked her that, she’d just be able to point to the Bible scene of Roman soldiers mocking Jesus on the cross and tell you that you’re one of them. Their mockery was along the lines of “If you’re really God, then come down from the cross.”
I just hope they follow through with it. If they're literally nailed down somewhere at least they won't be able to wander about actively helping spread COVID
I haven't, so fair.
I attended Catholic schools most of my childhood, they drill into your head how horribly painful crucifixion is. Unless we meet someone who experienced both I guess it's impossible to say.
I mean they see it as martyrdom.
Not that it even makes logical sense, nor do they practice a Christianity that in any way acts Christ-like, but they think they're martyrs.
Wait until they figure out that every god given vegetable they eat is sprayed with evil chemicals so nasty that insects literally die when they eat them
But these people don't lie naked on the ground with their mouth open waiting for God to feed and clothe them. They have a job so they get money so they can buy those things. So where is the line? How do they decide what God will take care of and what won't?
Why do they get in the car to go somewhere? Wouldn't God teleport them where they were supposed to be if he wanted them to be there? Why do they take painkillers when they get a headache? Isn't that God's plan too? How come they get to post shit on Facebook? Wouldn't God post it for them if it was supposed to be on there? I'm sure they applied for that job they have that helps them pay their bills, why didn't they trust God to give it to them?
The reason not to get vaccinated seems (gasp) completely arbitrary and very conspicuously exactly in line with their own preconceptions.
Not sure God appreciates being used as an excuse to do whatever the fuck you want.
God gave us free thinking, and full freedom. He only helps if you ask for it, and not physically. He wont move your cup, even if you pray for it. But it might make you happy.
The way I see it, God could've aided in creating the vaccine and distributing it. The vaccine *is* God's work, it *is* His way of taking care of it, and by not taking it you're ignoring all the work He did or whatever. These people have some other, probably stupider, reason to not take it, and are justifying it with religion because it can be hard to argue against.
The way I've heard it explained is like this: there's a drowning man who is approached by several boats and when they ask if he needs help, he tells them God will help him. The man dies and in heaven, he asks God she he didn't save him. God replied that he tried, but the guy turned away all the boats He sent him.
Faith is the excuse people give when they don't have good enough evidence.
You don't need faith in vaccines because we have mountains of evidence on their efficacy and why and how they work.
No faith required.
You obviously do. All the evidence in the world doesn't matter if your brain gets clogged by conspiracy theories. This isn't some "le me being rational" thing. It's matter of propaganda which scared people consume
You can’t crucify through the palms; the nail would rip through your hand. You have to drive the nail inside the gap between the ulna and radius.
Edit: correct bones
American Christians. I genuinely think people need to start addressing the American indoctrinated version of Christianity as a different branch from Genuine Christianity. They give literally everyone else such a bad name and they hurt the body of the church.
Religion doesn't have bad apples. Religion grows bad Apples.
Any religion that has anything close to an all powerful God, that interacts with our lives, is begging for people to behave irrationally. Because nothing is irrational if you believe an all powerful God wants you to do something/will reward you for it.
Believing in the existence of God is really hard. Lack of evidence and all that. But if you get past that part, the rest is easy. It's just a tiny, much smaller belief, that God wants you to do something, and suddenly it is perfectly reasonable to do *anything*.
God can eliminate COVID right now. God can cure me of anything. God can bring back my dead spouse. God can flood the Earth, fix climate change, everything. Anything.
Believing God wants me to not get vaccinated is a million times easier than believing God exists. And no amount of contradictory evidence would sway me. God's opinion is more important than anything else. Science is nothing to God. The law is nothing to God.
If I believe in God, ANYTHING is reasonable if it's what God wants us to do.
28% of Americans believe that God talks to them, in some way or another.
That's *insane*. That's a huge number of people... Who believe anything is okay if God wants them to do it, and they believe God is talking to them.
Of course they are going to do insane and irrational stuff. Because that's what any reasonable religious person would do when God tells them to.
You’re exactly right. People who follow instructions from the voices they hear, in my experience, are typically suffering from schizophrenia or are actively using some sort of unmonitored hallucinogen.
That's really not it. You don't need God to have morals or do good things... The argument shows that if you believe in God, there are high chances you will do a lot of irrational things such as not doing any covid prevention methods because "God will protect me, so I don't need all of these stuff". Can you see how it harms people if everyone start believing that God will protect them from a disease even if they don't take preventative measures?
Atheism do grow bad apples sure, but you don't need God to have morals. You just need to be a decent human being who have empathy towards other people to have morals and do good things. If God is the only thing that keeps you from gunning down people, I gotta ask, why the hell are you wanting to gun down people in the first place.
Yeah, but the same is true with philosophical positions. This problem isn’t a religion thing; it’s a belief thing, and everyone has their beliefs. Religion just makes it easier to commit violence due to the fact that it’s incredibly easy to attach random meta ethical claims to ancient religious texts.
But religion is a unique version of belief: it comes prepackaged. You don't have to think about your opinion, you don't have to worry about right and wrong, just do as you're told and you're good.
People who don't follow a religion have to develop their own beliefs. Often that means they will also be able to articulate *why* they have a belief, instead of having to point to a holy text and say 'some ancient goat farmer told me'.
"everything in the book is true"
How do you know?
"Because it's god's word"
How do you know?
"Because it's written in the book that it's god's word"
That's basically the entire religious argument in a nutshell.
The hate is kind of awesome. I'm getting downvoted either because people are too dense to see the sarcasm, or because they actually think Jesus saves. And I get how they can be confused. I mean 5 million died of one bug, so clearly Jesus saves. It's just too bad people's grandparents weren't important enough for Jesus to save them from suffering slow strangulation and organ failure.
It's almost as if Jesus cares more for people that have money, like 45. Very US Christian mentality. Help the poor. I mean the members of my church, clearly. I don't want the actual poor doing well, and particularly not in my neighborhood. It's a disgusting mentality.
Now what do you mean by that, like, what should people believe then? If they there is 'o higher power and the world is the world and nothing more, then they're atheist, but if they believe in a higher power, they belong to a religion..
Ah the good old science vs religion. Was everything created or did we explode from complete nothingness. Is there 176 different genders and men can get pregnant or is there 2 genders and men can't. Years ago you could have believed in both. Not in today's day and age though .
Gods voice on earth the pope says to get the vaccine. Sounds more like you are picking and choosing what you want in your religion and not actually listening to what is said.

Yeah, plus you'll get all the prayer warriors going to petition to God/Jesus on your behalf to let you live.

Yeah but he rose from the dead
Yeah, and its gotta be true because someone wrote it in a book.
You misspelled it. Fauci is God.
I just hope they follow through with it. If they're literally nailed down somewhere at least they won't be able to wander about actively helping spread COVID
Well, dying of COVID doesn’t sound much better than crucifixion
Lol, I'd imagine the pain levels differ
COVID is a pretty horrible way to die. Have you ever seen what the lungs of deceased Covid patients look like? It’s bad
I haven't, so fair. I attended Catholic schools most of my childhood, they drill into your head how horribly painful crucifixion is. Unless we meet someone who experienced both I guess it's impossible to say.
It IS painful. The strain placed on your muscles in enormous
I'm sure dying of asphyxiation from dangling on a cross is far far worse
No, they just got their pictures mixed up. They meant have their hand impaled by a rusty nail then given a tetanus shot just to be safe.
I accept this headcanon, lol
