T O P
TheMeticulousNinja

That one was tough, but I think the Dre/Nas one would most likely produce the better music

Joooooooooshua

I think Dre produced “nas is coming”

Ri0-Brav0

Dre also did production on The Firms album

Ashim3000

"Produced by Dr. Dre" does a lot of heavy lifting and has since NWA disbanded. A Dr. Dre record could have been produced by any number of people, it's more a stamp than proof he actually produced or did anything more than the Diddy standard "turned a few knobs".

FnfHeat

Lil Wayne fits with the other group but I’m going with team Ye

andretavaresofficial

This should be a rap debate though. Is your answer the same? As a dual threat (producer/artist) Kanye is better than Dre. Dre's best asset is his production. As a rapper he shouldn't even be in this conversation respectfully.

BobTheBludger

The side which has Nas on it will always win

ItsTheTenthDoctor

Unless it’s Nav*

SunkyV3

You trippin. NAV is the goat. He’s gonna release aoty.

Specialist_Ad3126

nav has em lyricism nas's story telling young thugs vocal talent fr

SunkyV3

Forgot about the fact that he’s the first brown boy to get it poppin

BobTheBludger

Nav music made my disable brother walk. He took a long walk off a short bridge. He is disabled again cause he didn’t die when he fell of the bridge.

kokobiggun

Exactly. If Nav is on the other side of Nas, he’ll win.

iAintNoDummyDummy

In this sub the side with em

Watermillin_

how can you pass up on Kanye, Jay, AND Lil Wayne? I love nas and dre but com on guys, get your head together

DaylanDaylan

I think theres just more oldschool fans at this point cuz it’s been around longer

malmini

Eminem, 50 and Nas any day over Wayne or drake. Then between Dre and Kanye well Dre is the better rapper. Jay z is the goat imo

sladeAU

You're delusional on those last 2 points.

staylovin

Lol saying Dre is a better rapper then Ye is crazy

MarkTheShark89

And drizzy too. He isn’t great now but he once was.

Watermillin_

drake is the worst one there

Remarkable-Zebra5438

i really hope you and your brother still love each other

andretavaresofficial

lmaooo

Anubis_DivineDemon

Cmon of course people will pick Nas, hes so good

Watermillin_

Kanye is the greatest of all time and Kanye and Jay-Z are the greatest duo of all time I dont get why you would take nas over the greatest

Anubis_DivineDemon

I think Nas is better then kanye. Kanye still great tho

Absolute_Warlord

Nas > Ye imo OutKast is the better duo imo

helloiamcanada

W

apbussdownap

What is kayne the greatest of all time at? And really you're pick ye and jay as best duo?

Watermillin_

Kanye is a top level producer, incredible lyricist, and has the best discography in all of rap... theres nothing else to it, hes just the greatest

EggAnnihilator69

Why’s drake here?

lonely_little_cow

ikr he's like an altima between Ferraris, but hey my brother's choice

Longerthanyou5

Because he has a better discog than 50 and Nas

Mediocre_Quantity_26

bro gimme sum of whatever you just snorted

Kuyi1994

I love Drake too but relax

needs_grammarly

bro what are you snorting

Longerthanyou5

Lookin’ for good ye to snort

Ash_army_24

Drake will never release an album as good as GRODT Plus don't even get me started about him coming close to Illmatic or ITW

Longerthanyou5

If you’re reading this, nothing was the same and take care all wipe 50 sorry man

xWhitzzz

Must not have been listening to hip hop when GRODT and The Massacre was released. 50 had the world in his hand. Dude got a movie and a video game made about him all within 3 years of his debut album drop.

Casper-canada

But that 3 years is really all he had That video game was surprisingly good tho.

xWhitzzz

And it’s arguably the best three years in all of hip hop. Between those two albums were 21 million worldwide sales. That’s more than kanye sold in his first five albums.

Casper-canada

Remember when Ye n 50 made a bet as to who would sell more for graduation vs curtis? Ye won n every album after that, the gap between them only got bigger

xWhitzzz

GRODT alone sold more copies than Kanye’s first four albums. Curtis wasn’t that good tho lol

Casper-canada

GRODT was lit But 50 sold 30 million his whole career. 12 mill was GRODT. And Ye sold 121 million.

Casper-canada

Neither will 50 haha

Watermillin_

-45 downvotes 💀

Longerthanyou5

Yea dog I forgot all the 🧪’s on here refuse to acknowledge drakes talents and accomplishments, and also thought that saying Kanye’s discog was better was simply too obviously true so I thought Drake would create more buzz. Still true regardless 50 barely has 2 and a half good albums and fell off faster than he came on. Not denying his insane accomplishments in that time either and dude found plenty of other things he was great at outside of rapping But shouldn’t even need to discuss Kanye’s discog vs 50s as if graduation doesn’t exist and as if Kanye didn’t drop 2 10/10 genre altering albums back to back before 50 dropped his first, and wipes since

Watermillin_

drake is easily the worst artist there...

Longerthanyou5

That’s an ok opinion to have but his discog easily wipes an aux battle would b a fun stomp to watch as if drake doesn’t have an absurd amount of near universally praised tracks with instantly recognizable quotables and melodies that have been chilling on the top charts for around a decade now Not to mention ye and jay in the same category

TBoneHolmes

Woah. Now that’s a hot take 🤣

OrdinaryBallowski2

Tf you be smoking dawg

autostart17

Nas is the biggest hitter from the bottom, imo. I’m still going top. Whatever you think of Drake, he has the most replay value of any rapper imo. Then ye’s the most musically innovative, and lil Wayne’s lil Wayne.

paydayallday

Drake has more replay value than wayne?

autostart17

Yeah, at least in more alternate settings

LowerBackPain_Prod

I mean, you really kinda fucked Jay over here though

Ok_Cantaloupe_7423

Beo don't clown kanye like that. He MADE today's rap gang. And produced some of the most iconic songs of the 2000s.

LowerBackPain_Prod

Fuck Kanye

Ok_Cantaloupe_7423

It's ok to be dumb bro. Don't gotta hide. Literally a huge list of some of the most popular rappers out today will legit say in interviews that kanye either directly put them on, or they're influenced by his music

LowerBackPain_Prod

... and?? And *College Dropout* was a mf masterpiece too, who cares? I wouldn't say "fuck him" (or anyone else) just for his music lol.... So yeah, fuck Kanye.

Ok_Cantaloupe_7423

Bro this a rap group not a morals and life choices subreddit 🤣 its mind boggling that yall will support rappers who are gang members and talk about killing people n shit, but kanye does some wacky things and tweets mean stuff about a comedian and its "kanyes music is good but fuck kanye"

LowerBackPain_Prod

Whatever you say bro, no need to tell on yourself though

Boston-Nolan

Kanye and Jay are my favorite rappers of all time so I have to go with group A

Loose-Possible466

Personally I think Group A has a more consistent discography (excluding Drake) but that's just me

abidjc

Yeah I was hesistant to choose group A when you have Kanye and jay z together that’s like Batman and robin but I guess so is Eminem and 50 or em and dre - it’s a hard decision I mean Kanye is a goat but so is em

EMSuser11

I agree.

curryoverlonzo

Lil Wayne’s discography isn’t consistent

WubOfDoom

Kanye vs Nas = Nas win (0-1) Jay-Z vs 50 Cent = Jay win (1-1) Lil Wayne vs Eminem = Em win (1-2) Drake vs Dr. Dre = Dre win (1-3) Team B wins

S4njc

I mean this could go either way I could do Kanye vs dre = ye win 1-0 Jay z vs Eminem = jay z win 2-0 Lil Wayne vs 50 cent = Wayne win 3-0 Drake vs nas = nas win 3-1 So This doesn’t prove anything, I mean I even did it in order unlike you

triedby12

Hahahahahahahaha, Dre is the greatest producer in the game.

Mother_Chest3977

Kanye has produced the msot iconic beats for the past 3 decades. Dre is still a good producer, but nowhere near kanye

BeanLord2002

Yeezy better out of those two. Plus have you heard of Dilla?

Watermillin_

Kanye is literally a better producet

antisha_9

Jay over Eminem? Are you serious?

S4njc

You’re acting like this is a uncommon opinion, people call hov the goat, I don’t but many people do. He just has a better discography. Man you Eminem Stan’s can’t take a reasonable opinion

Marcaveli7

Strongly agree. Even with this guys cherry picked matchups, I’m still taking Weezy over Em.

abidjc

Nah em solos weezy I’m sorry

Marcaveli7

Most people would agree with you. I’m still taking Weezy.

abidjc

It’s your opinion and I respect that but in all honesty and I speak from a non bias POV there’s not many aspects of rap that Wayne has over Eminem , but hey that’s just my opinion.

Significant-Ad-5372

Gentleman, once you get to this level of rapper the difference in skill is very minimal, if there is any difference at all, both are top 10 oat. That said, I also prefer Eminem.

Marcaveli7

It’s just my preference. Objectively speaking, Em makes a much better case. I would argue that Wayne has had more influence on the game. Also made me crack up how you said non bias pov while having em as your pfp.

abidjc

I’m an Eminem fan doesn’t mean I kiss his ass 24/7. Even with an em pfp im just as much of an Eminem fan as I am a ye fan

TBoneHolmes

Dre > Kanye (by miles), Em > Jay (By even more miles). Doing it this way makes it a 2-2 tie for me

BeanLord2002

Go listen to the blueprint and graduation come back after

TBoneHolmes

Blueprint? Eminem overshadowed Jay-Z in one of his own tracks on that very album

Casper-canada

I would go more like Ye vs Dre = Ye 1-0 Jay vs nas =nas 1-1 Em vs Wayne =Em 2-1 Drake vs 50 = drake 2-2

Watermillin_

Nas over Kanye us WILD same with Em over Wayne

kemuon

Lmaooo

AcanthaceaeOwn2651

I would of gone with ye , Jay and Wayne but Drake on that roster

TBoneHolmes

The fly on the burger

EMSuser11

Not a Drake fan myself, but you have to admit the man has plenty of classics and is way more popular than all of them combined worldwide. When he dies he's going to go down as one of the all-time greats.

TBoneHolmes

Not in my mind he won’t lol He can be as influential as he wants, it doesn’t make me like him any more 🤣 But yes, he is undeniably a big deal. If only popularity equated to talent

fhahxjsoxjsjcisjjebs

Top one

GymCloutVillain

I like every name on there. But cmon. Jay-Z and Lil Wayne alone make it the W

SunkyV3

Option 2 is a mixed bag, but basically my logic is: 50 and Nas > Ye and Jay Dre and Em barely beat out Lil Wayne and Drizzy. BARELY.

xxylenn

downvoted for having an opinion lol

SunkyV3

Such is the life of a hip-hop Reddit user

gojester

This is so easily team A for me, way more listenable music. I'm never putting on any Nas, em or dre songs, only some 50 once in a while.

jimmyneutron437

You're missing out with nas and dre

BmWsUpRa

Facts

CanArt3

Drake & Kanye two weakest links among those 8 men actually makes it obvious. Only one on the second group that I don't fuck with much is Nas and even he is clearly better than Drake and Kanye, arguably Wayne too. So this one is not even a discuission to begin with...

juliansoze

Kanye Goat

Getbacka

Without question. Don't know what the other guy is talking about lol

BobTheBludger

What they are saying is that Kanye is pretty average - his production is on point but lyrically he ain’t even close to Nas Wayne Jay Em or 50… Even Drake… really how can he be put in any top 10 rap argument… he alright but most of his shit is rnb and not rap, even though he features all the top rappers… honestly Drake music is for the people and he’s more pop music than rap so I don’t understand why people put him in top 10 lists - even Kanye - like musically they are both pretty dope but I don’t think they are the “best” rappers and definitely not over Nas, Jay, Em or Wayne… So in saying that the one with more of Kanye, Drake or Dre in it loses - cause Dre don’t even write his raps anyway and he can’t be in the top 10 either… I’m not saying Drake, Kanye and Dre are shit though, I’m just saying that they don’t belong in rap too 10s

Getbacka

What's crazy is that Kanye is immensely more lyrical than 50 lol. 50 might have the sauce, but bars tho...that goes to Kanye easily

Longerthanyou5

Kanye wipes everyone on here especially 50 and Dre

CanArt3

No he doesn't

Longerthanyou5

He really does. Imagine trying to listen to 10 50 albums lmaooo

Joooooooooshua

He doesn’t even have 10 albums

Longerthanyou5

Exactly

budoscsicska

Kanye is the best one all of them lol

CanArt3

Lmao yeah right ...

anarchydiva

Name 7 amazing albums from every artist that isn’t Kanye right now

CanArt3

I won't.

anarchydiva

You can’t*

Joooooooooshua

You can’t really do 7 from each artist since dre and 50 don’t even have 7

anarchydiva

my point exactly. the kanye disrespect is crazy in here.

Joooooooooshua

I know it’s crazy, although I guess Kanye is a better artist than rapper, so that’s what might turn people off from listening to him. He has amazing projects like. Tcd, Lr, graduation, mbdtf, and Tlop

Absolute_Warlord

Get his dick out yo mouth ffs

budoscsicska

Im just telling the truth bitch

Curious-Void

Not reading that essay

AZstuff36

nah the emidem dickriding is crazy

jimmyneutron437

So is the kanye dickriding

abidjc

Ignore him man they’ll see Eminem get a bit of credit and start crying but if it’s any other artists (especially Kanye and btw Kanye is my top 3 I love him) they’ll be fine with it.

jimmyneutron437

I'm way more a fan of kanye than em but theres more kanye dickriding in this sub than em

abidjc

I agree

AZstuff36

ye dickridin valid tho ⛷️>!/s!<

Joooooooooshua

So you’re dick riding yourself, why would you point out people “dick riding” on artist, but allow it to another?

AZstuff36

Genius, isn't it? You could also call it Jeen-Yuhs ⛷️

AZstuff36

I don't need your pussy bitch I'm on my own DICK ⛷️

Joooooooooshua

What?

AZstuff36

dick riding myself⛷️😏

Kuyi1994

I'm always about consistency, so I pick the first group

bricknermonfan

top has the best rapper of all time so yeah top.

xxylenn

its about the group as a whole, not just one artist that you think is the sole goat

N64crusader4

1 of those is not like the others

CertifiedTitty-Lover

This is a hard one, i can’t decide

fire-lane-keep-clear

I'm confused as to why we're separating the NYC rappers

nano_rap_anime_boi

Jay > Nas > Em> Ye > 50 > Wayne > Drake > Dre Tough Call but ima go with the Em, Nas camp

Pewy2

Jay over Nas and em?

ElTekenoko

I personally don't regularly listen to the artist in group A but listen more to group B so i choose B

JuiceLordd

Rip to Nas and Dre but Kanye is built different

arrowkid111

The first would have the better production and lyrical skills

EMSuser11

Of course most are always going to choose the one that has Eminem Nas and Dr Dre but I really don't mess with their music all like that so I chose the first one. It's always so predictable what people will choose.

andretavaresofficial

Assuming this is a rap conversation (I see a lot of comments about production), I'm going with side A. Kanye as a dual threat artist and producer is better than Dre. Dre's best asset is his production. As a rapper he shouldn't even be in this conversation respectfully. Let's not forget that Jay-z penned his biggest hit. Eminem as far as rap ability, might be the greatest ever but his discography also has a lot of mediocre music and some of his lyricism while clever, just isn't anything of substance to remember. Jay-z is the goat to me period. It took me years to appreciate him but I think it takes a certain sense of maturity to appreciate Hov. Lil Wayne is the one of the most creative and iconic artists of this generation. You wouldn't have half of the popular artists today without Weezy. Then you have Drake, who is probably the best hitmaker on this list overall. Side A.

Stocktontimothy12

i like every artist on top and no artist on the bottom

andretavaresofficial

Jay-z is the goat.

EARtH1200

Accidentally voted incorrectly

Serious_Path_7143

I'm 35 years old, I grew up on Dre, Em, 50 and Nas I can live without the others.

ChartMelodic5326

Such an easy question got anything requiring thought? I voted for Team Dre

InterestingFormal623

Speaking of Reach Eminem and Tupac are most popular English rappers in my country India. PS:- I don't count drake as a rapper

OkRequirement3540

Nope. Dre. Em. Even 50. & Nas are all old. There’s no way they’re beating Kanye, Jay, Wayne & the biggest superstar in the game rn.

zqaine

Wayne is better than all of them.

litb4206

50, Nas, Dre, Eminem hands down

OrdinaryBallowski2

I like nas, and dre, I really like eminem

theBlackCatharsis

Dr. Dre over ye Jay over nas for now 50 mainstream run over drake Em mainstream reign over drake And Eminem first three album over the carter series Plus bottom has more sales in albums and concert tickets

Pedro_Moona

Can we do Lil Wayne, Drake, 50 and Eminen?

Repulsive-Instance31

I prefer everyone in the first option but the second option is just too good

Ashim3000

Dre doesn't write, Em doesn't write anything intelligible or worthwhile, Fif had one good (classic) album and has been trash since, Nas is great but can't carry the whole team good lord. How is this a debate?

RandomEmyr

Kanye > Dre JayZ < Nas Lil Wayne < Em Drake < 50 Cent It is close but I’d have to go with the second one

rudebwoyyyyyyy

ye vs dre = ye jay vs em = jay wayne vs 50 = wayne drake vs nas = drake top pick all the way

abidjc

Bro you picked drake over nas 💀 bro I’m sorry but WTF ik it’s your opinion but your opinion is wrong

rudebwoyyyyyyy

i love illmatic but nas hasnt put out anything even close to it since then. i dont even like drake i only like so far gone, take care and his new album but nas has been boring since his first album imo

abidjc

Yeah bro I’m going to ignore your existence after you just said you liked drakes new album 💀💀💀 illmatic alone is better than anything drake has put out

rudebwoyyyyyyy

i agree that illmatic is way over drakes highs but its the only thing nas has put out that i liked. drakes new album is a grower fs but i love it its perfect vibe music

xWhitzzz

I mean I guess it’s subjective. But, Stillmatic was fire, it was written was good, hip hop is dead is good, KD2 is fire, and even Magic was fire.

rudebwoyyyyyyy

i thought magic was pretty good but idk. smth ab nas idk if its his voice or what it just doesnt click w me. im glad u enjoyed them tho man more power to u

EMSuser11

Mob mentality always prevails and nobody can have an opinion that differs from the masses. I like a few of Nas' songs but I'm like you, where, I can't figure out what doesn't click with me. I just think he's a great rapper but too formulaic and cliché at times.

rudebwoyyyyyyy

preach

Lil_Wheatie

Kanye is the best out of all in my opinion

EMSuser11

And people will never admit it until he dies most likely just like everybody else. Lupe Fiasco is definitely up there in that realm as well.

__Mukul_Yadav

bit of a no brainer because of drake

Devfterr

Kanye and Dre are tied Jay-Z > Eminem Lil Wayne > 50 Cent Nas > Drake A side wins
