I’m 100% down! I wish they done The Hobbit animated like the old one was, would have been way better

jserrano32

I just feel like animation let's you do so much more!

MrBladewalker

Animation cant capture scale and epicness like live action does though.

jserrano32

Hard disagree. Most of the greatest scenes I have ever seen were animated

MrBladewalker

Things like simple horse riding shots or drawing a sword are spectacular in the movies, you cant achieve this in animation.

jserrano32

Again, cap. Normal animation nowadays is great and add to that a bigger budget because of it being a movie the animation will be GOD TIER. All I'm sayin is give it a chance and come back to me. Based on what you're saying you haven't seen much current animations.

MrBladewalker

I have and ive seen the rohirrim charges on the big screen and no animation could hope to come close to the intensity and atmosphere of those scenes.

jserrano32

Lol, well it's a shame that you won't be able to enjoy these films as much as the rest of us cause we finna have a ball

MrBladewalker

Dont get me wrong im excited for it ill take anything Tolkien. Just wanted to make my point on live action vs anime

EightandaHalf-Tails

I feel like the Tolkien Estate gonna sue the shit out of them... Middle-earth Enterprises holds the rights to The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, that doesn't mean they can make entire movies about things that happened 500 years before those events. EDIT: Unless, of course, they make it like the Shadow of... game series where, other than using names from Tolkien's works, it has absolutely nothing to do with what Tolkien wrote.

Gwinbar

It's in the appendices to LOTR, they won't be using any Tolkien material from elsewhere.

EightandaHalf-Tails

Which means it'll be like the Shadow of... series, truly awful fanfiction.

wertraut

Even the new live-action show will be fan-fiction. That doesn't mean it has to be as bad as Shadow of Mordor/War but there just isn't enough written material about the time period to adapt and I myself am excited to see different events, which have previously only been touched upon briefly, interpreted and expanded upon.

EightandaHalf-Tails

I'm fine with the show writing its own material exactly because Tolkien left so much wide open space in the Second Age. Why I hate the Shadow of... series is because they went to town with a tomahawk on the plentiful lore Tolkien did write about that time period (between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings). I should've been clearer to begin with, my bad.

wertraut

100%. I hate the writing in shadow of war and they completely fucked up the lore(I managed to look past it and still enjoy the game) but so far there's nothing indicating the same will happen to this show. And yep, Tolkien left a lot of open space which almost invites itself to be filled. Will it be good? Idk, we'll see but even if it turns out bad we'll still have the books. And in the best case we get a great interpretation of stuff which isn't officially "canon" but still fits in nicely with most of the lore.

>Middle-earth Enterprises holds the rights to The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, that doesn't mean they can make entire movies about things that happened 500 years before those events. And this story is taken entirely from the appendices to The Lord of the Rings, so no problem. Doing, say, the battle of Celebrant would have been more difficult because a lot of the finer detail that Tolkien did pen ISN'T in the appendices. But Helm Hammerhand? That's perfectly within the rights of Middle Earth Enterprises.
