Bike: "I got this. You're just slowing me down."

I made a severe and continuous lapse in my judgement, and I don’t expect to be forgiven. I’m simply here to apologize for the music. Posting this with sound on was obviously unplanned. The music you hear on you screen is part of the raw recording; it is unfiltered. I didn’t know how to react or how to feel when I heard the audio still in the clip. I should have never posted this video with sound. I should have put my finger down, deleting this video, and thereby stopped what you are all going through now. It’s not my video, I found it on Instagram, and I deeply regret not turning it into a gif before posting. This simple, but unfortunately unaccomplished act, would have made your viewing experience far more pleasurable than it is now.

Myopic_Cat

That was indeed a serious transgression my child, but you show adequate remorse and Reddit forgives you. As penance, upvote 10 posts or comments and submit three cat videos.

Cyb3rTruk

Amen

HistoricalMention210

Yay Cat Videos lol

katsakata

No worries man just let it self stabilize

TheRealSHADED

“Ain’t that something?… Didn’t see that comin!” Cmon that’s perfect.

Krull_TWK

LeastCoolUser

Did the bike win?

MexicanWarMachine

Obviously he was the problem

masonmax100

The bike did a fucking barrel roll and still managed to stand back up lol.

BirdofJove

The bike really did a barrel roll.

maj0ra_

The bike's like no I can still win this

UltralisKingD

Ghost Rider IRL

Artor50

It's better off without that loser anyway.

Myopic_Cat

Finally an example of my favorite scientific topic: bike physics!! Amazingly, it's only in the past 15 years or so that we have begun to fully understand the physics of how bicycles and motorcycles remain upright and turn. Here is a good summary article from Nature: https://www.nature.com/articles/535338a How does a riderless bike stay upright? (an infographic from that article): https://imgur.com/a/8LBSujR Spoiler: stability mostly has to do with the geometry of the steering axis and front wheel. And you turn by countersteering, i.e. to initiate a turn to the right, you rotate the handlebars counter-clockwise. No, that's NOT a typo.

TossPowerTrap

Jobst Brandt also describes this thoroughly in his book, *The Bicycle Wheel* \- 1983. As to OPs vid, /r/GifsThatEndTooSoon

PlumKind

I don't know why we're all pretending it's not a Decepticon, but okay.

WarderWannabe

Not to be a complete nerd, but this is a perfect example of how gyroscopes work.

P3nguLGOG

Nerd!

WarderWannabe

Guilty.

mikk0384

I ~~like~~ liked you.

WarderWannabe

Shucks

mikk0384

Things change. I get the sentiment, but the hostility is uncalled for.

WarderWannabe

Sorry, you misunderstood my meaning. I went for funny and missed I guess.

mikk0384

Like I said, I get the point. The hostility towards me is still uncalled for, though. It's bullying in a weak form. Belittling my expression just to make a point. Edit: I don't care about votes either, but that was not the right time to make that point. I'm being nice, be nice back instead of posing.

Myopic_Cat

The gyroscopic effect is actually only a very minor part of bike stability. I just posted a longer comment on this elsewhere in this thread.

BlackJesusAfro

“Ghost ride the whip”

Void_0_Error

NF in the background makes the video 100% better

A1sauc3d

Lmao but there’s nothing wrong with the music XD. It in no way detracts from the video ;)

RedditAnoymous

The reason for the accident to happen was the same as the reason the bike re-stabilised itself.. it didn’t like when the driver pushed the bike down in the curve, so the bike re-stabilised itself agains the drivers wish..

LetterheadStriking64

Wait, we are supposed to watch vids with sound? Obviously this is a not at work activity.

Productive_Anxiety

Bike : Fine, I'll do it myself.............

fredrickmedck

Turns out bikes don’t need humans at all!

aRidaGEr

u/savevideo

knselektor

Excuse my ignorance but how a motorcycle can still running without human input? They have something like cruise control? Thanks in advance

Techn0ght

Engine is still throttled up, takes a few moments to wind down. Same with a car; doesn't go from 6k to idle instantly.

infinit_e

Sometimes I think motorcycles should support a tethered kill switch like wave runners.

dblan9

Do riders know to land on their backs like that or was that just a coincidence?

Complete-Painter-518

It said i dont need you bitch

rollicorolli

Has the bike become sentient?

Towndrunk13569

It’s a new DARPA bike

youslashh

Juice Wrld pushed him off the bike and started riding. Nothing interesting about that

Itsmemanmeee

Salesman: These things drive themselves

Techn0ght

I've had this happen after my rear wheel slid down a wet train track that went diagonally through an intersection while I was turning. When the wheel caught pavement again it high-sided me into oncoming traffic, slammed into the ground, picked itself back up, and slowly went on its' merry way.

IcyCunt96

Autobots, Roll out

Ghost_Star326

TopDigger365

Rider not driver.
