batsun

A speed runner would sprint on the first barrel to rotate it, gaining enough momentum to launch when they jump at the right time

0lof

A speed runner would realize this is merely a side quest and then continue to the main quest line.

davopotato420

They need to get past this part so that they can no clip into the final boss room qnd beat the game

Taurenkey

And also to unlock some item that's never used in casual gameplay but is broken af in a speedrun.

FuzzySparkle

Probably a bucket

Mrwebente

And so what happens if you press this bucket into the wall at this exact point at a 45° angle to the ground and the pillar over there and then you jump *on the bucket* is you get catapulted up the drainage tunnel and helms deep explodes because the game thinks a projectile hit the bombs.

Burning_Wobbuffet

But then it turns out to be a 0% run so they can’t use or collect that item anyways.

Akitz

Lmao reminds me of the era of Ocarina of Time speedruns (I think through most of the 2010s) where the strat involved speedrunning through the first temple until you were near the end and you walk through a door and hey through some fuckery you're just at the boss room. Although that's a little less crazy now that speedrunners have figured out to just fucking code the game into ending with a series of seemingly random movements right at the start of the game.

KlossN

Yo wtf, I checked it out bc of your comment and jeesus, 6 and a half minutes of "regular" speedrunning and then woop, stare at a wall for 20 seconds and suddenly, game won. He didn't even leave kokori village😱

figureinplastic

Gotta set up the proper RNG.

RealisticCommentBot

more like they do this side quest because the item it gives is slightly bugged and causes them to be able to kill the last boss in 1 hit

0lof

Good bot

thethespian

great bot

curious_human21

If this is really a bot, I can tell that our doom is near

RealisticCommentBot

I can neither confirm nor deny that I'm not actually a bot like not bot bot

ArthurDentonWelch

No, they still need to complete it for 100%

ConnerBlisse

If you do a quick-jump on the last possible frame then clip the edge of the first barrel you can preserve your momentum as you land on the second, this combined with a frame-perfect side hop will give you just enough momentum to get out of bounds on the left side. This confuses the game making it think that you're further forward than you actually are so it resets you right next to the last barrel. If done correctly this can save up to a tenth of a second.

HerpeesDerpes

>If done correctly this can save up to a tenth of a second. my sides, the accuracy

Weirneir

Yes, and combined with a bunnyhop done at the right time, it allows the player to preserve their momentum past the level making them able to get to the end boss faster

wavs101

[all you need is this song in the background](https://youtu.be/hQX7Zub0ZdI)

cubei

It doesn't seem like the barrels can rotate, they are binded together. He's probably playing on EZ difficulty.

batsun

Any% run is done on easy as the barrel speed is slower and barrelspeedclipjump has a greater number of frames to pull off successfully

cubei

Yes, obviously

DwelveDeeper

Okay so fucking Zelda breath of the wild I recently found out about the “air bomb” or “fly bomb” It’s not even a glitch, it’s just a convenient way. There’s tons of tutorials on YouTube how to bypass Temples using the method I love it but I also hate it… but I love it. I LOVE when there’s a slight glitch in a game. Especially when players found it. It’s not perfect, but it works Hands down best game ever

coptician

Boomie zoomies! You can also just straight up fly now. https://screenrant.com/breath-wild-player-learns-fly-strange-bomb-glitch/amp/ It's not easy but it does work.

Jackal000

And fail cuz the barrels are chained

nimrag_is_coming

And then walk sideways into a wall while spamming the roll button and somehow clip into the last level

apylontv

Not really a speed runner. He didn’t T pose clip through the barrels to fall under the water and wrong warp to the end credits.

Chrisuan

Glitchless categories exist you know

trololowler

But is it really a speedrun if it doesn't involve clipping through floors?

charredest

Yes

thealfreds

Well first the community of barrel runners would need to come together and discuss for months until they decide what is considered a glitch. Ultimately a second glitchless category would be created.

Krissam

Yea, in some games you can rewrite the memory from inside the game, causing you to skip to the end credits.

frosttyyyy

yes that's what a glitchless run is.

apylontv

Glitch less is for casuals that can’t do good inputs. Can confirm am paper Mario ttyd glitchless runner

0lof

Legacy southpaw enabled

fuzzywuz_zy

Speedrunners spend the most time in any game though. We just see the final result

[deleted]

Not only that, but just the speedrun itself usually takes longer than most people spend on the game too. It's not like they get their speedrun right on their first try - they go through that speedrun dozens or hundreds of times with plenty of research inbetween. If you include all of that time they spend perfecting their speedruns they probably spend more time just completing the speedrun than people do 100%ing the game.

IXdyTedjZJAtyQrXcjww

People are still speedrunning, innovating, and finding new tricks and strategies for **_Super Mario Bros._** And it's not new people. It's the same people playing the game over and over and over again for decades.

Yodayorio

Correct. No one spends more time with a game than a speed runner. How do you think they learned to beat it so quickly?

xiofar

70 hours? I think you mean 3-5 hours of copy/pasted gameplay with RPG elements (necessary grinding) to delay game completion.

bucephalus26

every ubisoft game

Kimantha_Allerdings

There’s a YouTube series where devs react to speedrunners playing their games. It’s really entertaining. There’s also a video where a speedrunner plays Psychonauts literally in front of a room full of the devs.

dudeimconfused

Found it. Thanks [Devs react to speedruns - IGN](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLraFbwCoisJA6eO7VSWtUqLaIFBQq4PCv)

feureau

This one's more of glitch tho isn't it? https://youtu.be/S5svhwN2-FI

dudeimconfused

Glitch?

ipmunvsironman

Devs reacting to Doom Eternal was my favourite

[deleted]

Haha this is me on gta

robeewankenobee

Portal players know what's up ... Did the first full run of Portal 1 in 2 hours ... got it down to 18 min due to map exploitation and random bugs exploits TODAY'S standard is under 10 min , a full game that was intended at least for 1:30 min

Frency2

Fast as fuck = lightning quick.

[deleted]

hl2 be like

Hrijit

That 36 chambers of shaolin scene

adamms-96

Is this the same guy who trained the karate kid kid?

Kaion21

speed runner put in way more hour than normal user though

Pseudynom

That water looks nasty.

PM_ME_YOUR_TORNADOS

The more times you watch it, the more people you realize that look at the guy.

I like that side turn of that bald homie

Elduche911

After watching him the key is hands in pockets. He's a carnie.

Kingdom_Republic

Still a speed runner would have to really play the game later to really enjoy it

Mizerka

we can improve this, strip naked and cover yourself in lube, get a nice head start and head first slide across and use boyouance of last 2 barrels to skid past the ending

FlashKillerX

To be fair, most speed runners put more time into the game they speed run than most normal players. The time it takes to learn the route, improve the route, practice, and do attempts and runs to get your best time, it takes a lot of time ironically

PinkGagball01

A speedrunner would bunnyjump the entire thing

USSR_ASMR

For some reason, I read "Game developers: spend 70 hours a day making a game"

Lucky_Yolo

What game?

Dumb_and_also_Gay

like a fucking supervillain

Funniest thing is that speedrunners spend much more time in game than a regular player.

Fast enough to get the balls out

NoShameInternets

Gonna take this chance to plug AGDQ at twitch.tv/GamesDoneQuick. Every year a bunch of speed runners get together to raise money for charity. They’re already at about $1.5m for the Prevent Cancer foundation. Check it out!

spinyfever

I'm assuming this is China. Why are Chinese people fascinated with crossing the river type of obstacles. I've seen so many here on reddit.

Aubrey_82

I was going to say most extreme challenge, but that's Japan
