Old_Asparagus4742

Damn they decided to just forget jinnah

KunnFayyaKunn

Jinnah isn't canon to the MCU, but SRK is.

KuJoJoTaRo8

"What a time to be alive"

Blancos1718

I thought Jinnah was the Englishman lol. He was the only one in the deciding parties who wanted Partition. (Albeit he didn't want it at first)

KunnFayyaKunn

To everyone here: Stop directing your hate towards Muhajjirs because of shitty writing. I assure you that the majority of us don't prescribe to this sort of thinking. While many of us do recognize that we have roots, we all saw the necessity of Pakistan, hence the reason we immigrated. Don't counter hate and erasure with more hate and erasure.

TroopyRuby

This. If you look at elections and whatnot from the time you can see that the Muslim league and pakistan was significantly more popular in places like central India and bengal then in modern day pakistan where they had not experienced living as a minority. Most areas were either run by King's or won by provincial secular parties (for example the unionists in punjab.)

TroopyRuby

It's incredibly frustrating that after nearly 75 years we still have to justify our existence. There are many nations (peru, argentina, like 90% of African nations) that simply exist without specific reasons of ethnicity or religion. So why does two nation theory even have to be debated?! Right or wrong we have developed into our own people, just leave it for gods sake. It's so annoying.

foryouthrowaway1222

it’s because pakistani identity is derived from being “not india” is pakistanis became more confident about themselves as a country they wouldn’t be this defensive all the timr

TroopyRuby

True. Many if not most writers were Pakistanis

mani202187

This is outrageous. Pakistanis don't think like that at all, we don't have any desires like the one they wrote!

[deleted]

Yay another reason why I won't watch this show

dukedizzy93

Same

shikiiiryougi

Sem2sem saar

presidentfawaz

This show is trash. First of all, Muhajirs make up ONLY 10% of the Pakistani population. Second, literally nobody in Pakistan complains about the Independence. You might find like 1 in literally 20M people who have weird thoughts like this. That’s it. Third, they’re trying to appease Indians with this bullshit. Fourth, majority of Pakistanis have very little in common in Indians. No Old Englishman had this thought. It was the Muslims of the British Subcontinent who had this thought. The Muslims fought for this thought. And, no Muhajir cares about his “roots” in India. They cut off all their ties. What else did one expect with Sharmeen as the team member of this show. I mean they’re casting Indians as Pakistanis and saying Indian phrases in this show just to try and appease Indians. Clowns.

foryouthrowaway1222

cope lmao

Jamal117

WTF is this "kum ba yah" shit? Hopefully the "RePrEsEnTaTioN MaTtErs" crowd can finally see this garbage for what it is.

CellularPunk

I miss the good ol times when we used to be represented as Terrorists, Look at this now, WTF!

GamersMotivation

Yeah, like what just happened

Celestial-Red

Well that was better than this bs

CellularPunk

Exactly

mebbadk

As a diaspora, I am so sorry.

Nice_filbert

How many episode are out? I knew this type of trash would appear within the first 5 episode.

KunnFayyaKunn

This was the 4th.

OyChaudhary

That didn't take long. Lol!

Ok_Owl1611

People here are still discussing should pakistan exist or not😂😂

forza_rossi

Who would have thought they went full sem2sem sar. What garbage.

shadowxrage

Bhai yeh hum logo Kay nahi bani series it's made for American Pakistanis

larraku

I'm an American Pakistani. I don't watch this shit.

shadowxrage

It's not a bad show personally I like it but it's pandering to different people. It's still an achievement in south Asian representation. Hollywood might get as close to Pakistani actors as Bollywood is

doctor-octo-puz

I think That's Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy at work Picking out the 1 in Million person with distorted views and portraying at Main Stream as Symbolism of All The Pakistanis(FYI :- I don't have any problem with her Oscar Winning Documentaries. But this is totally Absurd)

Zq1na_b

As a Pakistani, no hate to any Indians! If you’re going to make the characters Pakistani at least use Pakistani actors/actress. “Who cared its the same thing, plus its just a movie.”. Its not just a movie when they’re changing everything about the culture and the people. Like yay okay they got a Muslim character and smthn, but at least make it accurate. “You’re overreacting. Calm down.” Im calm, but its really not fair how Indians and Pakistanis are seen as the same thing, but then somehow we hate each other?! We’re different and have many unique things.Get it right. You’re the one getting none of your nationalities mixed up. Plus us Pakistanis dont think like that at all, that’s literal shit. The west will change so much for us to look ‘bad’ irl. Marvel could’ve done so much better. Thank you for your time. 😚👍

MEmaadSufi

Yeah the episode was good but this line of dialogue they kinda pulled out of their ass. Also jinnah is canon in THE MCU because there are newspaper clippings of him in Nani's room.

Son_Porus

writer of this is pakistani, don't blame westerners. we only fuel their ignorance with idiotic historical erasure to appease some non-existent sentiment.

KunnFayyaKunn

Yeah, as much as it would be easy to blame the diaspora, if you look at the Pakistan sub this is cross-posted from, it's really obvious how many pathetic POS "Pakistanis" are defending this sentiment and fuel this.

Son_Porus

until we don't do anything - we will forever allow the vultures to continue reaping our history and revising it till the lines are blurred.

AbdulManan95

Lol you consider hassan minhaj a pakistani? Kuddos son

Son_Porus

i don't see why you'd downvote me for that lol - but if hassan minhaj is behind it then wtf lol.

KuJoJoTaRo8

Pretty sure Sharmeen's writing this, not Hasan unless I'm missing something

foryouthrowaway1222

most pakistanis agree with the clip. pakistan is 75 year old artificial state. For centuries it was indian part. nothing wrong with the sentiment you lot are having an existential crisis over this because it is so fuckin true

Totally_not_sad

miss me with that saaar we sem2sem ja bay

Disastrous-Sea-9603

Family migrated from Indian Occupied Kashmir ~35 years ago to Pakistan and Alhamdullilah our family and no one i know wants to live or go to India or have any sentiments attached other than "It was our homeland once" 2 nation theory is proved right time and time again. As for the "In the shoe a particular person...." Read up spiral of silence theory and framing of news and media content/dialogue to understand the underlyinf implication and impact on younger audience.

Disastrous-Sea-9603

It is pretty 'racist' if you start calling a struggle with millions of people sacrificing their lives to come live in a muslim country "Pointless" and "Some old englishmen decided" on an international tv series

Disastrous-Sea-9603

Almost every "old man" or woman who used to live in "india" and migrated here has no romantic thoughts about British Raj like that. (Yes british raj because there was never an "india" before 1947 much like there was no pakistan) This show is portraying a fictionalized and romanticized version of a bloody and also purposeful history of Muslims od sub continent

RKhanAdil

Doesn’t matter the whole mcu is fake and faction.

Potufs

I'm pretty sure ms. Marvel is bihari

LakshyaSH

Your grandmama mightve been bihari if I, just like you ASSUME you're a muhajir lmao

Potufs

I'm also sure you just got your panties in a twist... And it's surprising because i didn't even make a personal attack or had any intentions to do so.

LakshyaSH

You're free to do any personal attack if you can idc And My balls are free right now. Thanks for showing interest there. We both know what you meant by "bihari", don't we?

Potufs

If you really didn't care, you wouldn't even have bothered to reply. :D

Potufs

I don't think we do.

Shelby_Sheikh

You guys do know that Sharmeen Obaid directed this episode and not a westerner? No matter what the writer writes, at the end of the day its up to the director to choose which scene or dialogue makes it in the file. For TV Shows from the likes of Disney, Netflix and such. A particular show can have multiple directors as each episode may require a different artistic element. This episode involved showing a lot of what Karachi is on the ground so having a director who knows first hand is obviously preferable.
