I’m not a religious person but you are in my thoughts and I hope everyone in your family will be okay and well soon.

ag1el

I praying that he is going to get better. Your family is in my thoughts. All the very best keep us posted on his recovery.

Former NICU nurse here- if it's any consolation respiratory troubles shortly after birth are shockingly common (especially with cesarean deliveries or precipitous vaginal deliveries), and sometimes the kiddos just need a few days of monitoring or additional support while the extra fluid in the lungs absorbs/ disperses into the tissue. It's nearly always a temporary scenario with complete resolution- just harder for the babies to oxygenate as well while the fluid is still present. CPAP or even a nasal cannula can offer a little extra pressure to keep the alveoli open during this time to put less stress on the baby. I don't know all the details surrounding your child, but am hopeful that the above matches your scenario and nothing more sinister. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to vent. Short or long stay in the NICU, it's not a fun or easy time. Lots of love to you and your family right now

mrbojingles77

Thank you very much, this is pretty much what they told my wife and I. It just really sucks that the first few days after my son was born that he has to fight for it. I really appreciate everyone in this wonderful community

chooseph

It will be a long few days and I know it's not easy, but it's worth it for the peace of mind knowing your kiddo is safe when he comes home. Don't be afraid to ask the nurses questions while he's there, and try not to get discouraged if he's there a little longer. Take advantage of this time to get some rest too, if you're able! Sleep is never the same once he comes home (I have no idea if this is your first, you may already know all this).

baconflavoredkiss

True. 3 kids all 3 years apart. I haven't had a full night sleep in 9 years. I thought I went hard in my early 20s. I didn't know what hard was. 😳 . Our third child had a hard time breathing his first couple of days. Stay strong

Plagmoid

Prayers for you and your family brother. My third child had a lot of problems right after he was born. I'm one country away, but if there's anything at all you need, even if it's just someone to vent to, feel free to DM me.

mrbojingles77

Thank you so much, you are all the best!

Sevon42

A similar thing happened when my daughter was born. For some reason she almost immediately had developed a lung infection. Close monitoring and IV meds for a few days and she was right and rain. Hope the same for you here, an easy fix to whatever's wrong with a quick recovery.

GrabbingPLikeDonT

careful tailing that plane with your car. that's dangerous bro.

Warm_Height639

LauraSolo23

Definitely sending good vibes and thoughts!! My daughter had complications after birth, and it can be very traumatic and scary. You're doing great, and don't feel like you need to update any of us before you're ready!

Marnawth

Good luck and God speed my friend!

DEDWUD

Damn, my thoughts are with you. But don't forget to take care of yourself. And drive safe.

ComicMAN93

I don't believe in a higher power. But if I'm wrong, I hope they are with you wile your baby recovers. I wish your family well.

Feralcrumpetart

New mom here. My heart goes out to your LO. Manifesting strong baby vibes. The nicu staff are incredible. They have your baby's back, but please take care of each other as well, because these are tough weeks, after having a baby. Make sure you are hydrated and nourished, try to sleep. There's a subreddit for parents support as well /r/NICUparents

alex_andriaa

My nephew was born with the same issue. He stayed a week at the hospital and now he’s a very happy and healthy 3 month old! Good luck to your wife, your baby, and you!

Crafty0

Sending positive thoughts your guys' way. I just got back from Vancouver myself with my newborn after a month. You guys are in really good hands over there. Great doctors in Vancouver. Speedy recovery to your new little one.

mrbojingles77

They actually did a sudden change of plans and took them to Nanaimo so I’m on the way there in the ferry

Crafty0

Either way, you're still in great hands. Make sure to take care of yourself and your partner as well. I know it's tough, but try to rest and sleep and eat as well. Good luck my dude.

Mr_Low

Hey I'm a clinical pharmacist in Vancouver, BC. I work in a larger hospital nearby. DM me know if you have any questions about the BC health care system, NICU wards/procedures or Vancouver in general. Lion's gate hospital is a great hospital and I'm sure Elijah will do great. P.S. Also a long-time vod-boy (never could catch the streams live) and sub. I appreciate your contributions to the sub!

iiitsbacon

I know exactly how you're feeling right now. My son nearly died during birth and spent the first month of his life in the NICU. I know its stressful and I know what's going through your mind but you have to remember that you still have to take care of yourself during these hard times. Don't forget to eat, sleep, shower, etc. Trust the doctors, it seems he's making progress so don't let yourself fall apart during all this, Your son and your wife need you more than ever now.

Ariq-El-Khouri

My older sister was born 40 years ago weighing just over a pound. In the hospital the first 6mo of her life. On oxygen the first few years. Medicine got her through way back then and it’s come a long way since. Hope that is encouraging. Sending you love, light and good vibes stranger. Elijah sounds like a strong dude.

FacelessSnow

Best wishes!

right_foot

ThatsMrVillain

Don’t gotta be religious to pray for another person. My prayers are with you and yours

TheSpokedB

All I'm gonna share is I went through the same shit when I was a baby and made it through just fine brother. They had to keep me in a tent-like thing to make sure I got enough oxygen. My parents saw me through that, im 28 now, did have some asthma when I was younger but grew out of it. Stay strong, you all can get through this!

Hot_Bird_2268

Praying for you for sure. ❤️🙏
