Why do people vote for the red at this point? Besides reviewers and a few people at canjam no one had the chance to listen to it. It's still in pre-order and hasn't been send to anyone or am I wrong? In general, I would never vote for something I haven't listened to myself.
I am not saying that it can't be good. But the poll is asking about which iem is better. So how could you say the red is better than all the others if haven't listened to it. Usually, I would even say that in order to rank it above all the others, you should not only have listened to the red but also to the others. Otherwise, as someone else said, this is just a popularity contest of the latest hype train.
I haven't heard the red but Crinacle list is pretty much spot on. Truthear Hexa and B2 for example, sound better than many iems that cost thousands of dollars. This is coming from someone who owns multiple kilobuck iems. If it's made by Crinacle, it's good. Simple as that.
True, but both iems you mention are not tuned by Crinacle. Don't get me wrong, I have the original truthear one and I like it. From the list, I also own the Hexa and think it's at least better than the original zero. The Dunu Kima and the red I don't know so I cannot say if they are better than the Hexa
Truthear Holas for me, $30< IEMs like Truthear Hola & chus are the true entry level budget IEM for me, I personally don't think $50-80 is entry level, rather low-mid level IEMs (I'm from a country where the minimum wage is 11 usd per day)
I donāt understand what you mean by āthe one with no filterā? (Additional info, Iām using the Final Audio Type-e tips instead of the stock ones, should I switch back to the stock tips?)
(Extra Q: What does the black nozzle do?)
Check inside the nozzle. One has filters and one is empty. Use the empty one for more bass.
But if you are expecting tws like bass then you will be disappointed. Idk about you but when I listened to david guetta nothing but the beats album with it, I was stunned by the sheer quality and detail retrieval of the bass. I'm a basshead and my last iem was qkz x hbb khan, one of the bassiest IEMs under 100.
And, I am using stock tips and cable with a dongle dac. Haven't tried other tips yet.
if you just want bass why did you buy the ea500 in the first place?
and the tape mod reduces the soundstage and tames the very high frequencies which is why ea500 is special, the air. Now its up to you.
Whatever you do, these are not meant for bass. Currently I'm listening to One dance by drake and the bass is satisfying af. But I respect your opinion, this hobby is subjective. You should've gone for legato or khan or even the quartet
I mean, I technically just wanted a quick back-up IEM because the cable for my Arias fell apart lol, maybe Iāve been spoiled by the Buds 2 Proās sub-bass? Everything about the EA500 sounds pretty good so far except the sub-bass tbh. Perhaps I should try EQ?
yeah it has a very capable driver. takes eq pretty well. but again if you are this disappointed, just sell it and get the khan. you will be more than happy.
The driver turns out to be very capable. I auto-eqād it to the Project Red and I find it to be a very comfortable listening experience lol. Basically project red + better driver. Surprising combination. (Or maybe I just really like Crinās Project Red tuning XD)
In fact, EA500 with Project Redās tuning is EXCELLENT. Just the right amount of bass, vocals sound great, the highs are not fatiguing, Iām very happy with this lol.
If you already own the regular Zero you can EQ them to match the Red, easy way to see which tuning you prefer. Then you can of course still buy the Red if you do.
Is this true? I think part of tuning is the placement in the acoustic cavity. Has someone designed an EQ profile that produces the same target in measurements as the red?
the V shaped tuning and treble dropoff aren't going to suit every genre and preference. Just keep looking, but I'd say stay away from the other sets with very similar tuning.
I guess I was expecting more bc they sound pretty similar to my Salnotes but just for $15 I really expected more when I shouldnāt have tbh all on me, pretty sure theyāre great iems for any newbies
Hey so Iāve used different ear tips and Iāve started to like āem a bit more now, especially for gaming. It just sucks I bought another pair of Salnotes as well but hey I guess itās nice to have a backup :) two iems for $50 basically Iāll take that
I have it and i can say in today's market its bad. Cca also did a retuning of the cra without announcing it so graphs for the cca cra are not relevant anymore.
I don't know when they did it but timmy from gizaudio showed on one of his videos (tried to look for it but can't find it) the new graph and why he doesn't recommend it anymore. It followed some sort of a target pretty close in the bass (i don't remember which one) and highs stayed the same with the peaks.
Second this or the new Tanchjim Tanya DSP. Now, mind you I've only had both the OG versions of each, however, even then they had great tuning, good technical performance and excellent comfort.
I don't know why everyone hates on them. I get they have some phase issues, but for $15 the quarks dsp sound excellent. They sound better than pretty much any iem I've tried
I'd say I can't believe the Hexa's are winning, but I can - everyone fell for all what I can only assume are paid reviews all over the place. Cracker toy build quality, dull sound - absolutely nothing redeeming at all.
I had them & the Kima's. The Kima's are significantly better.
I don't think either are very good, but the Kima's are kinda decent for the circa 100 budget.
My advice is save up another hundred and grab some AFUL Performer 5. Really excellent neutral sound, can handle the full frequency spectrum (Kima & Hexa cannot handle lower frequency bass - they just splutter) - this does not mean they are bass heavy; it means they are good quality. If any audio product cannot handle the full frequency spectrum that is audible to the human ear - my opinion is/common sense dictates that they're just not very good.
NF Audio NA3, i took a risk for the sake of their design and got pleased.
They cost around 70, maybe even less. They're built out of a strong polycarbonate which is really light so there's a benefit to that. They are V shaped so there's a good amount of bass but also treble. I can kind of compare their sound to those Sony XM4 / Bose QuietComfort 35 except more detailed. The highs were a bit too harsh for me so i put some special tape on the driver but yeah they're nice.
Not a very known IEM, if the design/color options don't attract you i suggest looking into something more popular/reviewed
I just got my first IEMs in... forever, and went with the HEXA. Aside from some crackling at higher frequencies, they sound great. I'm not an audiophile, though, so. As with everything, take it with a grain of salt.
I have the hexa's and while I love them I throw some caution towards them for gaming.
The bass doesn't portray gunshots and explosions well. It all gets kinda lost and muddled.
Fantastic for music but I was shocked by how empty they sounded gaming. If you're not playing FPS but prefer cinematic games then you might be fine
I have the regular Zero's and I must say that as a multi-purpose they are very good, however, as far as I understand, the Hexa's are notoriously better for the extra price.
When I watch movies and series the Truthear's sound very good due to their great detail and so on, however, when it comes to music, it depends a lot on the mastering of the track, if it is good it will sound good, if not, it can sound a little bit strange, however, they are very good, I don't regret buying them.
If you are interested in asking me any specific question I can answer it, also if you are looking for a youtuber I would recommend GizAudio, I think he have really good content and his opinion is mostly objective (although there really is no complete objectivity when it comes to audio xd)
Seems like Result is winning by a long shot. Where can I find reviews of this product?
Fresh review in youtube, he's a good reviewer, but I'm just want to confirm with reddit's communities
I had never heard of any of any of the other options... so it was a no brainer :-)
Measurements aren't looking very good for it.
looks like there's a lot of unit variations

Because polls are usually just a popularity contest and often not actually useful.
Anything made by Crinacle are better than 98% iems on the market regardless of price point, so ..
I am not saying that it can't be good. But the poll is asking about which iem is better. So how could you say the red is better than all the others if haven't listened to it. Simgot ea500

So I just got it and Iām using the red nozzle, really missing the sub-bass of the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. Will the black nozzle help?
Some models are messed up. Use the one which has no filter inside
I donāt understand what you mean by āthe one with no filterā? (Additional info, Iām using the Final Audio Type-e tips instead of the stock ones, should I switch back to the stock tips?) (Extra Q: What does the black nozzle do?)

Is the zero red not just a recolor? I should try it out
Nope, it's different tuning
Sweet, this is why I love truthear
It was tuned by Crinacle though.
retuned by crinacle
The OG Zero is also tuned by crinacle.
If you go to Crinacles graph comparison tool you can generate EQ files to EQ one IEM to another.
Tangzu wan'er
Where's the Salnotes Zero at
The hexa seems to be a better option than the red since it is more technically proficient.
I just got a set of KZ ZS 10 Pro Xs and I love em
I spent $35 on my kiwi ears cadenza and I'm really happy with them
Man I got recommend them but I canāt seem to like them. I want to give them a chance maybe I gotta use them for a week
the V shaped tuning and treble dropoff aren't going to suit every genre and preference. Just keep looking, but I'd say stay away from the other sets with very similar tuning.

Coming from bluetooth headphones that retail at $200 in the Sony WF-1000xm4 it's an upgrade.
Hey so Iāve used different ear tips and Iāve started to like āem a bit more now, especially for gaming. It just sucks I bought another pair of Salnotes as well but hey I guess itās nice to have a backup :) two iems for $50 basically Iāll take that
Hexa is dope maybe you should have added the KZ PR2
Just bought the KZ PR2 based on this recommendation, I have some nice planar closed backs and I'm excited to have open back planar IEMs for 45 shipped
+1 for the PR2. Best planar in the hobby at a silly price ($35)
You've tried all planar IEMS? So PR2 are better than Timeless AE?
KZ PR2.
KZ ES4 sound way above their 20$ price tag, rather neutral sound. Fidelio X2HR 100$ open back
CCA CRA
I have it and i can say in today's market its bad. Cca also did a retuning of the cra without announcing it so graphs for the cca cra are not relevant anymore.
how to know if i have the retuned ones?
I don't know when they did it but timmy from gizaudio showed on one of his videos (tried to look for it but can't find it) the new graph and why he doesn't recommend it anymore. It followed some sort of a target pretty close in the bass (i don't remember which one) and highs stayed the same with the peaks.
Where's olina se
Beyerdynamic DT990 Pros open back or KZ PR2 with EQ
First one is not an IEM nor entry level and KZ is never the best option. Always a good one though.
He said or good open backs
And the 990s are under 80$?
Quarks dsp
Second this or the new Tanchjim Tanya DSP. Now, mind you I've only had both the OG versions of each, however, even then they had great tuning, good technical performance and excellent comfort.
I don't know why everyone hates on them. I get they have some phase issues, but for $15 the quarks dsp sound excellent. They sound better than pretty much any iem I've tried
Hated mainly because you canāt use your own amp/dac. I still think they are great. Perfect for the Switch.
Shit options.
!thanks very helpful

How about kiwi ears quartet, is it worth it? It seems that it's a good all-rounder iem

Simgot ea500 or tripowin Olina se.
I was already convinced for salnotes zero but these Result seem to be the favourite

Kiwi Ears Cadenza or Tin C3 Similar tuning, and good for every genre
