This was inspired by Assassin's Creed, and that's not the Nile. It's a big lake from the game that I don't know the name of. The Nile area has greenery, as it should.
I believe they know the exterior was covered in marble like in the image. I imagine this would reflect a good amount of heat and light at certain times of day/year
Oh. I thought you were talking about the cap, but they would have been covered in limestone (still bright, but not marble). The limestone is still there at the top of the pyramid, which is why it looks white there.
I think there's a logbook from a dock/ship master that documents the transport of high quality stone by boat for the exterior finish to cover the rougher stone quarried from right next to where the pyramids stand.
It was a magnificent enough covering to be coveted and taken over the years so I'd say it's sight alone upon completion must have had a major impact on everyone and everything that saw it.
Polished white limestone I believe, not marble. The capstone is a bit more of a question. It would have been much smaller than what is shown here, we still have some of the cap stones from that high up. There have always been rumors that the capstone was gold, but no actual proof that I'm aware of. With the rest of the pyramid being so bright though, a gold capstone would not have really be visible. There are some other thoughts that because of this, the capstone might even have been black, or some other dark stone.
In regards to environmental affects, I don't actually think they would have been too bad. The pyramids themselves might have been very bright, but the heat effects you get in a city is from having lots of artificial canyons. Especially the the pyramid shape, most of the heat and light should have been free to dissipate back into the atmosphere rather than getting trapped.
But where are the UFO's? Mere brown people couldn't have built the Pyramids. It had to be aliens (who looked like white people). Weird how no one says that about Notre Dame or the Colosseum.
Ancient aliens is crazier than a second nut sack. Though, I still prefer the Futurama theory that the ancient Egyptians taught the aliens how to build pyramids lmao.
hmm, not a single tablet ever found describing the construction of the pyramids. From times when we have tablets describing details of how many pieces of show strings a marching army of 5000 needs...
The pyramids are actually the tip of a much much larger structure. A structure similar to Washington monument. There’s much more to learn. Hundreds of feet below the sand. 👀
Did you really see that made-up post from the other day and just… immediately take it as fact? Or is this some old conspiracy theory
https://reddit.com/r/megalophobia/comments/11worem/just_a_cool_rendition_of_what_i_imagine_could_be/
He has none unfortunately, it's a claim made in ignorance of facts so all he can do is stay quiet, recant or deny.
Or he might possibly surprise us all with a weird source from some fringe person claiming a narrative where there never were caps and that everything held in museums has been grossly misinterpreted. That would at least make for a fun read.
Perhaps, but if so he phrased it in the worst way. He calls the idea a notion and states that they never had them without clarification - instead of saying that while it's fair to think they had them since others did and we have evidence of them preserved, he personally doubts that the great pyramids had them. Then he could give reasons for his doubts and we could see if they were reasonable or not.
They were called a "pyramidion". They were usually stone plated with gold, though they weren't nearly as large as in the illustration. There are numerous examples of surviving pyramidia in museums.
Edit: spelling
I'm going to introduce you to a mindblowing concept called the passage of time, where things now do not look exactly the same way they did when they were new 5000 years ago.
If it was some sort of concrete method, then why not pour it layers instead of blocks? Those blocks were obviously cut and dressed individually from stone.

All jokes aside, I don’t think that 1: it would be safe, as putting a lot of weight on structures we don’t really know the strength of is bad, as tourists are entering the pyramids.
Also, many people may not want to go see a pyramid that looks brand new, as it kinda gets rid of the history.
Nobody knows what the tip was made of, or even if the great pyramids had them.
It probably got robbed before modern archeology (assuming it had a capstone)
Assassin’s creed Origins. (First impression from the pic)
Same lmao
Was my first thought as well 😂

thought it’s a screenshot from the game tbh
It seems like it is, but ran through an art filter.
Will Siwa ever know peace?
They were ancient by the time the events of that game transpired
Origins takes place 2500 years after the building of pyramids 🤯
Yeah this is a fact that never stops blowing my mind.

Came here to say this.
Probably still had that new pyramid smell.
If I recall, the lateen sail (seen on small boats on the right) wasn't invented until 2000 years later.
Plus the pyramid looks a little tall for something 481feet tall?
Yeah, it looks more like 481 meters than ft in this rendition lol
The Nile delta was also lush back then. Not sandy.
Yeah. This is all taken from a game, and OP ran it through an art filter.

Lake Moeris, near Faiyum?
The original tourist traps!
oof musta been hella bright wen sun hit it
I was just thinking the same thing. I wonder if there was any effect on the ecology in the area being hit by the reflection.
We have no idea what the capstone was, or even if the great pyramids had them, so that could have not even happened.
I believe they know the exterior was covered in marble like in the image. I imagine this would reflect a good amount of heat and light at certain times of day/year
In Egypt, I imagine that certain times of day/year would be all day, most of the year.
Oh. I thought you were talking about the cap, but they would have been covered in limestone (still bright, but not marble). The limestone is still there at the top of the pyramid, which is why it looks white there.
My brief google search corroborates what you are saying. It had a white limestone facade

I remember reading somewhere the capstone was either plated or entirely composed of electrum, a mix of gold and silver. Can't say where though.
Well that would have been wrong, because nobody knows what it was or if it even existed.
Brits would’ve stolen this too but it was too big ._.
Reminds me to book my Vegas hotel for December

We have no idea what the capstone was, so there may not have been a gold capstone.
Think it is in the British Museum
They have other pyramid capstones, not the great prymids’ though.
Props to the cameraman for taking this pic
midjourney
Well it certainly isn’t a photograph taken at the time five thousand years ago
So it's an ARTIST'S RENDERING.🙄
An AI's as far as I can tell. Very low quality post.
It’s a filter of a game screenshot.
Lmao, I see
But where are the UFO's? Mere brown people couldn't have built the Pyramids. It had to be aliens (who looked like white people). Weird how no one says that about Notre Dame or the Colosseum.

Forgot the /s
They left after they finished the job. Very efficient bunch.
If workers are pissed off now, imagine living back then and seeing what 100,000’s of your fellow people died building everyday.
They really don't know how to take care of their neighborhood, look at it now.
hmm, not a single tablet ever found describing the construction of the pyramids. From times when we have tablets describing details of how many pieces of show strings a marching army of 5000 needs...

Ah yes, when you bury things under thousands of tons of SAND! Gotta love those Egyptians.
The sand accumulated over time, there’s a city down there
Then why are all other buildings above the sand, on the same level?
You’re arguing with someone who’s fucking around

Do you always take everything so seriously? Relax bud
Nerd
What proof do you have for this?
It's an imagining, not a factining. Don't need proof to imagine.
As a time traveller I can confirm.
As a 5000 year old man I can confirm as well.

Source?
He has none unfortunately, it's a claim made in ignorance of facts so all he can do is stay quiet, recant or deny. He may be saying that there’s no proof of a good capstone for the great pyramids, not for all pyramids in general.
Perhaps, but if so he phrased it in the worst way. I'm going to introduce you to a mindblowing concept called the passage of time, where things now do not look exactly the same way they did when they were new 5000 years ago.
Why just the tip ?
Gold is expensive and much harder to steal if it's up really high.
Aliens
Because it’s an artist representation. We have no idea what the capstones were, or if they even had capstones.
You mean the teleport ?
I think the hills were greener back then.
Ahh yes, Tesla was right.
Assassin's Creed Origins?
Yup. Op just put it in an art filter.
This depiction is incomplete without goa’uld
There were canals flooded with water that ran all the way to the pyramids. It's a relatively recent archaeological find.
Makes even more sense the pyramids were poured like concrete. Bring the water source directly where you’re mixing.
If it was some sort of concrete method, then why not pour it layers instead of blocks? Those blocks were obviously cut and dressed individually from stone.
No.
Guy next to the giant hair follicle has a snake leg.
Wouldn't there be less sand?
What a great time traveling goal.
Slower times it were back then.
Is there any evidence the pyramids had gold tops or is that made up?
No evidence. They *could* have had them, but there is no proof.
So it's completely made up?
Not made up, as it’s an interpretation. But saying it as fact, like many redditors are doing here, is wrong.
Quick clarification: some capstones are found covered in gold, but to say that’s the case for all pyramids, or for the great pyramids, is speculation.

That’s a beautiful day.
why exactly arent we renovating the pyramids ? i am quite sure whatewver costs will easly be paid for by tourism
Because it’s renovating an archeological site. It’s the same reason we don’t rebuild the colosseum.
well putting an archeloligical site back into its original intended state is the same level like renovating a damaged painting imo
https://www.insider.com/tourists-visit-potato-jesus-painting-in-spain-2019-1 All jokes aside, I don’t think that 1: it would be safe, as putting a lot of weight on structures we don’t really know the strength of is bad, as tourists are entering the pyramids. Literally AC Origins
Was the tip gold? And they removed it?
Nobody knows what the tip was made of, or even if the great pyramids had them. It probably got robbed before modern archeology (assuming it had a capstone)
Beautiful. You can barely even see the mass graves from all the dead slaves.
life would be a dream
Damn shame, the area is a dump these days
This is AI generated I think
It’s a filtered photo of a game.
Where's the stack of dead bodies after all the slaves died?
Thats assuming Egyptians actually built them.
Where’s the jungle?
And people are impressed by them *today.*
Where’s the bass pro logo?
Note to Trump - note the lack of large gold lettering.
Neato. Must have felt like the center of the world at that time.
Those pyramids were ancient still when that picture is depicted.
