I’d like to request to the AFL that we ban both OUT OF BOUNDS and the THIRD QUARTER. Neither of these are necessary in this modern footy era I am not a crackpot

Cursedsword02

One of these days, Ben Brown will start his set shot run up from the defensive 50, *just watch.*

fuckmyass1958

Maybe at the SCG

Durfsurn

No ruck? (Some) No worries!

Drazsyker

Mitch Brown played well though! Hopefully he gets another week, he deserves it after that performance (yes, even if I don't rate him)

Durfsurn

More than weids imo who battled admirably today.

fiftyshadesofcray

I feel like I'm repeating myself every week, but great effort, good work around the contest, just lacking some polish where it counts. Hopefully we can pick up another 3 or 4 wins this year, feels like we deserve it

JellyFoxStardust

Could've done without the 5-6 out on the fulls

booookkkss

i agree, i’m no expert on footy, and you expect it to happen occasionally, but there seems to be too many out on the fulls and it seems like a really silly mistake to be making

TheIllusiveGuy

Finally, the team that kicked the most behinds won

3163560

Super satisfying win. No rucks, crows pressure was hot pretty much all game. Langon, Trac and Oliver are immense. i was worried Brown and Bedford both missing shots from 2m out would come back to bite us.

WOOPTYisME

I feel like Crows must've set a record for kicking the ball out on the full

Salzberger

You mustn't watch us much. That's standard.

floodswimming

Yet again fielding the youngest team in the comp and it took until the last for the Dees to have comfortably settled the match - damn happy with that performance Also I truly regret ever taking part in, let alone reading, any given match thread

VegemiteTube

That match thread is horrible. Good effort Crows. That was a seriously good win by the Dees, had to battle very hard.

jordietb

Yeah you did well enough; but let’s be real, Gawn or Jackson in, and it’s 60+ pts.

Salzberger

Gawn and Jackson in and we win by 1 point. Again.

jordietb

So much salt.

Mr-Mystery-Guest

Ironic

463DP

Yes but it Melksham was in it would be a 30 point loss.

VegemiteTube

Quality comment

Schranus

Ha!

tinybockstim

u/Darththorn

Mr-Mystery-Guest

Given the type ruckmen ROB is I doubt would have made a significant difference

great-nba-comment

Shut the uck up

L-J-Peters

Well he's right but it was good to watch us work around losing every ruck contest.

ketronome

Mate you haven’t been following the Dees very long if you’re already this arrogant.

jordietb

So you’re saying if we didn’t have an actual ruckman in the game (swinging the 40 hit outs to 10) that we wouldn’t have scored another bunch of goals? Let alone what a ruckman does in our system defensively with intercept marks.

fuckmyass1958

Crows are good and fight out games till the end. Proud of us with our outs, gg

lordarc

Big win with no ruckman. I am for one glad Petracca and Oliver are signed on for life.

Salzberger

Up against our kids and midgets those 2 and Viney were the difference. When push came to shove those 3 are just too big and too good. Oliver is a good fit with the Demons because he plays like he's possessed. I just watch him in awe.

Kookiebanookie

Can you please tell me more about this "winning without a ruckman?"

hasumpstuffedup

That was NOT good

DeCoburgeois

A lot of Dees fans getting shat on for saying it was badly umpired. It looked horrible to me, but will be curious to see your analysis!

oceanlabxo

Felt awful from the start. Interesting to see how harshly you judge it

Drazsyker

Interesting to see how you judge it but from watching it it felt extremely one-sided for the middle two quarters

Korasuka

I'm guessing it was terrible umpired against... us? Should've been 40-0 our way, smh, totally robbed. /s

DeCoburgeois

I dunno how you could argue that was well umpired. The umps were clearly being influenced by the crowd.

Korasuka

See the /s? Geez, and some people say it's overkill to use it.

GrandHarbler

Would be so curious to see your analysis on this one - felt that there was a lot missed or incorrectly paid. - May held without the ball for their first goal - Brayshaw HTB in the last - Tex high late in the 2nd that just seemed to be a guess - Oliver got clotheslined for no free Etc etc etc I watched it delayed and dispassionately after I put my kid to bed, and I knew the result, and it seemed reeeeeeally bad.

Brokenmonalisa

Usually though "umpired terribly" doesn't take into account bias or one sidedness. He seems to be a flat percentage and the determines it that way.

Mr-Mystery-Guest

Wait you think that shouldn’t have been htb against Brayshaw? That was a textbook example of a player dragging it in and holding it.

Drazsyker

On the replay he didn't drag it in, the Adelaide player (Fogarty?) kicks it in and under Brayshaw

GrandHarbler

Haha, Fogarty kicked it underneath him, he stayed on his knees after the ball went under, some other crows player held it underneath. Brayshaw never took possession

Mr-Mystery-Guest

What are we talking about the play?

GrandHarbler

For the Keays goal in the last qtr, Fogarty kicks it under Brayshaw, who stays on his knees the entire time despite the tackle pressure from Keays. He never dives on it, he’s only on his knees from spilling a mark, he never takes possession and he gets done HTB. Also, flair up.

Mr-Mystery-Guest

Lol diving on it isn’t required if you drag it in. There’s a little toe poke from Fogarty, but Brayshaw still reached out and dragged it underneath. Then once he got tackled he threw his hands up but that’s not good enough. Rule says once you pull it in, you must get rid of it. I’m not sure what point your trying to make about Brayshaw staying on his knees, that’s a bad thing Even if you think he doesn’t drag it in, he hatched it like an egg, and then made no effort to get it out. This one of the few clear cut rules, this would htb 10 times out of 10.

GrandHarbler

Having a hard time believing you’re not trolling… if he never dived on it, and never dragged it in, then it isn’t HTB.

Mr-Mystery-Guest

You must be trolling or stupid. He had possession of the ball and made no attempt to get rid of it, that’s ball plain and simple.

Grahaml1980

Adelaide fan here. Live it was obvious he never took possession and never dragged it in. You could could see it was just knocked underneath him. On the replay you can see clearly it was toed under him by Fogarty. At no stage did he take possession of the ball.

Mr-Mystery-Guest

Also only losers tell people to flair up

CompetitiveMud2464

How about the Crow stuffing up the bounce while running, get tackled, no free. Was taught when I was learning to ump that was one of the few black/white decisions.

hasumpstuffedup

Nah they changed it a while a go that when you lose control of the bounce you lose possession

Mr-Mystery-Guest

It wasn’t mid-bounce, he no longer had possession

limelamb

Scoreline doesn't do Adelaide justice

route-my-lans

How are you still typing straight after that upset?

limelamb

The erection is subsiding and the blood is returning to my fingers It's hard to spell corektly but I'm getting their

route-my-lans

You're a testament to the sport and the club, never change ya fkn legend.

Korasuka

They meant to say 'boo Adelaide were robbed! (/s)' but hit the wrong keys.

156102brux

So true. They were right up there.

BrutalGrape

Who even needs rucks anyway Bye Jacko 👋👋

oceanlabxo

Value of the tall man down the line is far greater than what they provide in the middle. We kicked a stack of down the line nothing balls that didn't even get contested this week, wasn't pretty

jmaverick1

Todays loss helped Melbourne stay on top, so the future first Sydney got for Dawson stays high. Positives

Makenaa

Are we back? I'm not sure yet, good win though, good were coming back well after the bye

Mediocre_Character94

1st vs 13th

Makenaa

Ewww reality

Mediocre_Character94

Still the best team in the comp though

CharizardGuy114

I mean it was only Crom

Link_Humble

Methinks the Dees boys should find another nickname for Tom Sparrow…

EducationalDivide867

Yeah, first time I heard it was Goody in the GF Sound The Alarm footage. Thought it was an in-the-moment slip of the tongue, but it seems like it's stuck. Awkward.

NJW1812

Whats his nickname? Didn't catch it (understandable to not reply if its offensive).

CompetitiveMud2464

Spaz. First I heard it was Trac late last year.

NJW1812

Yikes, but thanks for replying yeah not the most well thought out nickname for sure

jordietb

Why?

Link_Humble

You can’t go around calling people “spaz” these days. Edit: imagine downvoting me for this lmao

jordietb

Ha yes you can. Don’t woke yourself out of a nickname.

Link_Humble

yikes, but you do you.

ketronome

Probably the same person who came up with Cam Pedersen’s nickname.

Undead-Maggot

Well I’m glad we were close, so many missed kicks

BrutalGrape

Gotta love the Choccy milks after a win

woodie1717

Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnns

route-my-lans

Flattering scoreline for Melbourne. Who are still that good. Good hustle Crom.

Korasuka

Melbourne may have won but they did so with fear in their hearts as they remembered what happens last year. And because of the nature of the match thread please don't take this as me being salty. It's just supposed to be some good natured mildest of banter. We played better than I thought but the Dee's were too good. GG.

VegemiteTube

I watched with fear in my heart!

jacka24

Fear in their hearts of... winning the premiership?

Korasuka

Yes. To win the flag they have to conquer their fears. One being Adelaide at AO.

Drazsyker

Hey now, we only have to conquer that fear if we meet in the finals

sButters88

I was quietly nervous, young fella was shitting bricks once it clicked we had no ruckman and we lost this game last year

rhymeswithoranj

I thought this was the timeline where the unfancied team kicked better on the day and won. Sorry, Crom

JellyFoxStardust

Can't be too mad at our performance. We've been looking great in front of goal this past month, just not getting it in enough. Also surely Sam Berry is gonna break the tackling record this year? Dude is an absolute bulldog of a player

Bagzy

Honestly the game went much better for us than I expected. Went well for the first 3 quarters or so but Melbourne are good and figured us out, plus have the experience on us. Decent job from such a young list

Grahaml1980

Adelaide this season have consistently managed to do well in between the 50s. Often even dominating the midfield battle. The pressure and tackling are at a really high level now and the linking play is beginning to come along. Still a few too many silly errors and IMHO a real prime mover short. The defense is starting to look solid. Hinge and Murray have really improved the last couple of months and Butts is proving extremely valuable. I think we still lack a key defender though, the second key forward always looks too big for their opponent and probably needing a running defender. The issue clearly is connecting with with forwards. Far too many intercept marks as the forwards either missed their assignments to be in position or the mids just not hitting the spots. It's getting there though. McAdam was missed for sure, but it's great to see players other than Walker getting into the right positions at the right time. And even more promising to see Fogarty backing up his recent form against a really good defense. All up, Melbourne just had too much polish in the forward half. Petracca and Oliver were harassed all game long but had a bit more poise than our mids when it mattered.

d3adb0ne98

Not usually one to use free kick differential as a sign of an umpiring performance but 23-9 seems… strange.

Thanges88

Eh, it was umpired poorly, but fixing that, the differential would probably only be a bit smaller.

nathjay97

Far out I am proud of this mob. Such a young side taking it up to the reigning premiers for 90% of that. Really made them earn the win. Also Sam Berry is hot

DeCoburgeois

Fuck me that was the worst umpiring display I’ve seen us face this year. We could barely buy a free. I think Oliver had his head ripped off and ‘play on’.

YouYangsYoda

Is there a stat for correlation of favourable free kicks for teams playing in one sided loud stadiums like Adelaide Oval, I feel like whoever I see play there, the home team gets a shit load more bad calls in their favour, the crowd has to affect the umpires on a subconscious level in the moment.

3163560

super frustrating, that missed high to Oliver was shocking, umpire had to think it was friendly fire surely. 9 free kicks for the match, with only 3 in the second half and people were wondering why the fans were salty.

CompetitiveMud2464

Don't forget we got 3 soft play on ones in the first 4 minutes.

panfo

We finished with 9 frees and I think most were out on the full... (meanwhile they had 23 softies, several of which were i50)

Drazsyker

Out on the full doesnt count as a free kick for that stat

panfo

TIL thank you

DeCoburgeois

Yeah I hadn’t even considered that. Makes it even worse.

CliffClimberCliff

Wouldn't complain about Oliver not getting frees when his handball technique often involves just the 1 hand...

zaydb

Oliver has never thrown the ball in his life and I'd can't believe you'd insinuate otherwise

DonMare

Flair up champ

Drazsyker

He doesn't actually throw it, he's just so quick and agile that you don't see him handball it and your brain can't register that it isn't a throw

463DP

Nothing can be faster that the speed of light, except for Oliver’s hands. CERN are absolutely in shambles after their contract offer was not as good as Melbournes.

VegemiteTube

Some people just can’t keep up with the speed of his handballs. It’s okay, I understand.

MindCorrupt

Leeeeever leeeeever leeeeeeever

brandonjslippingaway

Adelaide Oval hosted a fresh Crows side Who the umps did surely give a ride, A man Lever's at fault, For generating Adelaide salt But a ruckless Dees got over the line.

reykavik

Can’t believe Tex got a free for high off his own player. May got him clearly around the body but all the ump saw was his staged flick back of the head (from contact by an Adelaide player)… absolute joke of an umpiring display. Just glad we still managed a win

Iron_Wolf123

Dang it, I missed the match! Oh well, at least we won the thing.

frggr

"honourable" losses suck, but that was a good showing from Crom

HelloStonehenge

Just because you can't handle the bantz, doesn't mean you can punch the best mustache in the game.

Gerdington

Oleg Markov didn't play in that game?

HelloStonehenge

fair, I love Markov.

Kind_Jump_6940

Zach Tuohy

BurntToast__

His bants are probably worse then his flopping.

VegemiteTube

I honestly can’t believe anyone thought it was a “flop”. Got punched in the guts…

jmaverick1

Crazy that lever rated himself as a boxer in his teens. For his sake I hope he never pursues it

Dirtydac123

Too busy winning premiership medals mate 😉

Itrlpr

Good to see Jason Dunstall got in the "Adelaide are definitely showing signs of improvement," at the end. Almost as if he had conducted some sort of review that endorsed and had a role in the current direction and strategy, and has a vested interest in the club's direction being perceived positively.

OutdoorwiththeIndoor

Shut up you goofy bitch.

mollydooka

Go polish your Range Rover.

dmaddo

Don't be homophobic you'll be no better than he is

CompetitiveMud2464

Ok. Like I said that was years ago. It was explained that was like the most prior opportunity you could have. It took me a while to get used to the change of if a player is bent over the ball you can rip them off from over it to pick up the ball, so bear with me.

Cramdunkulus

Well done to the Dees for beating their AO hoodoo...

d_mcsw

4 wins in row... such a hoodoo. WWWWLWWWLWWL

Far-Offer-6341

It’s a shame that we (barely) lost the first ever AFL game played at AO because our record there is unreal.

d_mcsw

Back in 2019 it was the one ground we had a positive record at.

SUPASKILTZ

Well that didn’t go as badly as I expected so good enough for me

emnaruse

Just rewatched it - god it was good watching those salty booing Adelaide fans
